XTR HID bulbs and kits have consistently rated as number one HID kits amongst many automotive enthusiasts. Xenon Depot has built an excellent reputation for supplying top quality XTR HID bulbs, lights and conversions kits for users. Customers trust our products because they are backed by the highest level of service for more than a decade. HID bulbs and lights are quite popular in vehicles because they produce much better lighting output than any other type of lights. The technology is also similar to halogen bulbs, making it easier to upgrade to HID bulbs from halogen bulbs.

How Do XTR HID Bulbs Work?

A regular XTR HID light bulb consists of two electrodes that are usually made of tungsten. The electrodes are surrounded by a quartz or glass enclosure that contains a gas and metal salts. Xenon gas is used in most cases of modern HID bulbs. Xenon gas has a property where it produces a very bright illumination when it is sparked up. This use of xenon gas is why HID headlights are also called xenon lights. Generally, an HID light bulb takes some minutes to warm up to full brightness. Xenon gas can reduce this time to less than 10 seconds. The normal halogen lighting system on a car operates on a DC current circuit that runs in the 12V – 14V range. An HID bulb needs a higher voltage of AC current to operate. This is why HID bulbs require a ballast to operate correctly. In most retrofit upgrades the ballast is used to connect the bulb to the vehicle’s control system. An XTR HID bulb operates slightly differently depending on how long it has been running. It takes a few seconds to reach full luminosity when turned on after it has been off for a while.

Benefits of XTR HID Bulbs

XTR HID lights are considered more efficient than halogen light bulbs because they produce much better lighting while consuming considerably lower power. This can lead to more efficient fuel consumption overall. XTR HID bulbs also lack the filament found in most halogen bulbs. This makes XTR HID bulbs much more durable than regular bulbs on vehicles. HID bulbs have an expected average lifespan of around 10,000 hours to 15,000 hours compared to halogen bulbs that run out in 2,000 to 3,000 hours. XTR HID bulbs also give you a greater selection for the color output of your vehicle’s light bulbs. The color output of headlights is measured on a temperature scale and rated in Kelvin. Most halogen light bulbs produce between 3,000K and 3,500K which can only generate a yellowish light. XTR HIDs can range from 3,000K (yellow) to 5,000K (white), 6,500K (blue) and even 8,000K (purple). Most people opt for a 4,500K – 6,000K light to get the bright white luminosity with bluish tint.

Why Upgrade or Replace XTR HID Bulbs?

All HID bulbs produce a high level of UV radiation and require UV-blocking quartz glass construction to ensure that you don’t prematurely age your vehicle’s headlights. XTR HID bulbs from Xenon Depot are produced from a higher quality, German made UV quartz glass. The higher quality of glass ensures that you don’t damage your vehicle’s HID bulbs prematurely and they last even longer than regular HID bulbs. Most regular HID bulbs use lower grade glass that simply won’t protect your vehicle’s headlights from the UV light that HID bulbs emit. A low quality of HID bulbs will damage your vehicle’s headlights as well. While XTR HID bulbs last much longer, they do lose brightness as they age. Changing out your HID bulbs every few years will increase your vehicle’s overall light output. If you are looking to replace a burnt out xenon bulb, remember that you may want to consider purchasing a pair of them to ensure that both your headlights match in color output.
